Thelma Ruth (Dowell) Venable, 90, of Lafayette, Indiana died on Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at Creasy Springs of Pulmonary Fibrosis.

Thelma was born to Roy and Myrtle (Griffin) Dowell on August 16, 1925 in Brown County, Indiana.

Thelma married Everette Venable on February 1, 1947 in Lafayette, IN and they enjoyed 67 years together. They met at Brown Rubber. She had also worked at Central Lab. She worked several years at Sheets' Chicken Farm.

Thelma is survived by her two daughters, Joyce Flynn and Janet Halsema; five grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; siblings, Edna Mae Clause, Mary Ritchie, Kate Wright, Carol (Arne) Nangle, Linda (Art) Bilyeu and Judy (Harold) Riddle and in-laws, Betty Baumgardt, Dave and Judy Venable, Mary Beth (Don) Dowell, and Charlie (Helen) Berninger.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Everette on February 16, 2014; siblings, Betty Lou Dowell, William Dowell, Delbert Dowell, Albert "Bud" Dowell, Don Dowell, and Helen Berninger and sons-in-law, Oral "Fud" Flynn and Jack Halsema.
