Tom was born in Guthrie, Okla., on Sept. 26, 1928, to Glen T. and Ora Jo Carey.
After completing a bachelor of science degree at Oklahoma State University and an MBA degree in accounting from Southern Methodist University, he served as 1st lieutenant in the United States Air Force and in 1961 joined Koch Industries at Wichita, Kan. Tom retired from Koch on Sept. 27, 1988, as chief financial officer and a member of the board of directors.
Tom was a lifelong member of the Presbyterian Church. He served as deacon and elder of Eastminster Presbyterian Church at Wichita.
He is survived by his wife, Martha S. Carey of Jonesboro; sister, Rosella Carey McQuain of Duncan, Okla.; two daughters from a previous union, Martha Derden Carey of Houston and Ellen Vanderburg of Naples, Fla.; his wife's children, Wendi Williams and Nick and Leslie Williams; three grandchildren, Jake Henry, Isabella and Victoria Williams; numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in law, nieces, nephews and wonderful, loving friends.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Joyce Derden Carey.
A service in loving memory of Tom was held in Eastminster Presbyterian Church at Wichita.
