Rachel Wade

Rachel Jewel Wells Wade was born to Perry and Mallie Wells on February 27, 1919 in Washington, Texas.
She was the tenth of thirteen children. At an early age, she dedicated her life to Christ. Rachel received her education at the Post Oak School in Washington, Texas.
Rachel was united in marriage to Leonard Wade Sr., who preceded her in death. The couple moved to Galveston where their three sons Leonard Jr., Reginald, and Charles were born. The family later relocated to La Marque where they became members of Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church. She remained a faithful member under the leadership of Reverend D.N. Benford until she was no longer able to physically attend services. Rachel was actively involved with her church's Missionary Circle #3.
Rachel was a very caring and generous woman who was loved by everyone that she met. She was committed to going above and beyond in taking care of her family. She used her gift of sewing as a means to help provide for her family. She was able to work from home providing her services as the neighborhood seamstress, along with her sister Clara, while also being available to her family as a homemaker and active PTA member. She also played a very influential role in the lives of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Rachel was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sons Reginald and Charles, eleven siblings: Mary Ella Brown, Ophelia Robertson, Addie Robertson, Mattie Wade, Maude Esther Marshall, Perry Lee Wells, Prudie Marshall, Clara Allen, Viola Flanagan, Ella Wade, and Godfrey Wells.
Rachel departed her physical life and entered eternal rest on December 3, 2015.
She is survived by her son, Leonard Wade, Jr. (Gail); daughter-in-law, Phyllis Wade; grandchildren, Reginald Charles Wade (Nakisha), Broderick Charles Wade, Chianti Bowers (Milton), and Traci Tousant (Kevin): great-grandchildren, Tristan Bowers, Rachel Bowers, Brandon Charles Wade, Lauryn Crowe, Kevin Tousant, Kamren Tousant, Ryan Charles Wade, and Reagan Charles Wade; great great-grandchildren, Charles Landry Junior and Moriah Landry, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other loving family members.
