Christened in New Haven in 24 Apr. 1657, by Rev. John Davenport. He came to Wallingford in 1667. "Wolves bothered their cattle, carried off sheep and made the night hideous with their howls, they were strong religious people". Was Constable there in 1672. On Nov. 9, 1680 he married Mercy Holt, and was father of John, Abraham 3d, Sarah & Susannah. Mercy died in 1688, and Abraham married 2d on 12 Feb. 1689 to Ruth (b.7 Dec.1645), dau. of Robert Royce and widow of John Lathrop, dau. of New London, CT. Ruth died a few years later, (Feb. 1690) having no children, except the 8 she had with Lathrop. On Jun. 5, 1695, by the Rev. Samuel Street, Abraham married Elizabeth (b.15 Feb.1668), dau. of Samuel & Mary Benton Thorpe of New Haven, and fathered Elizabeth, Thorpe, Samuel, Joseph, Elizabeth, Thomas & Lydia. Elizabeth died Aug. 27, 1736.
