Mr. David Wayne Beard, age 58 of Freeport, took his final ride on Sunday, December 6, 2015.


David was born in Hillsdale, Michigan on March 13, 1957 to William and Geraldine Beard. He has been a resident of Freeport, FL for more than 30 years where he has worked as a roofer for over 20 years. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a Harley Davidson enthusiast who loved being on his bike and traveling with his bike family. He also enjoyed relaxing while listening to his large music collection. He worked hard all his life to enjoy the peace of being able to ride his Harley whenever possible.


He is preceded in death by his parents; William and Geraldine Beard, and a younger brother; Randy Beard.


Survivors include his two sons; David and Travis, his daughter; Jessie (Coy), all of Niceville, FL. He leaves behind 8 amazing grandchildren; his loving brothers and sisters, Robert, John, Mike, Donny, Lisa and Kay.


He is also survived by his large and loving "Black Creek Riders" family to whom he was known to many as "Biker Dave".


Family and friends may pay their respects Tuesday, December 15, 2015 from 1pm to 2pm at the Heritage Gardens Funeral Home. Burial will follow starting at 2 o'clock in Heritage Gardens Cemetery, Niceville FL.


SANTA ROSA BEACH — A Freeport man was killed Sunday when he collided with a car while riding his motorcycle on U.S. Highway 98 in Walton County. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, David Wayne Beard, 58, was eastbound on U.S. 98 on his 2005 Harley-Davidson motorcycle when a 2010 Lexus driven by ********, 69, entered the roadway intersection from County Road 83, crossing directly in front of Beard's path. Beard was unable to avoid hitting the Lexus, striking it on the left front side, the FHP report said. Emergency personnel from the South Walton Fire District responded to the accident and attempted to treat Beard, but he was later pronounced dead at the scene, the report said **the other driver** suffered minor injuries. Charges are pending as the investigation of the incident continues.
