G.H. BROTHERTON DIES IN GRAND RAPIDS, MICH.

FORMER RESIDENT MOVED FROM HOWELL COUNTY ONLY 90 DAYS AGO........


Gurdine H. Brotherton, a former resident of West Plains who moved to Grand Rapid, Mich., only 90 days ago, died at his home there at 2:10 o'clock last Thursday morning. He had been in frail health for the past two years, suffering from a heart ailment.

Born in Howell County, December 29, 1886, Mr. Brotherton was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Abraham Brotherton, pioneer residents of this area who were among the early settlers in the White Church community. Mr. Brotherton had been a farmer throughout his lifetime. Before moving from Howell County 90 days ago, he had lived in the Hocomo community for the past seven years. Prior to that he had farmed in the Dripping Springs area. He was married Aug 2, 1909, to Velma Gillison of Yorktown, IA., and they established their home here immediately following their marriage.

Mr. Brotherton had been a member of the Methodist Church for the past 25 years.

Survivors include his widow and the following children, Edgar of Grand Rapids, Earl of Inglewood, Calif,; Bessie Blankenship of Portland, Ore.; Bertha White of Cambria, Calif.; Ollie Zeek, of West Plains, Mary Hanley of West Plains, and Elza E. James, Charles, Gerald, Dean, Ralph and Alice all of Grand Rapids.

Other survivors include23 grandchildren, one great grandchild, five brothers, Buck, Grover, Abe, Harvey and Ranson and two sisters, Minnie Crider and Zella Charles.

The body arrived here Saturday morning, and Mrs. Brotherton, all the children except Earl and the majority of the other close Relatives were here for the funeral service.

The services were held ar 2:30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at The Dripping Springs Church. The Rev. Bay of Mountain View officiated, and special music was furnished by the Manza Quartet. Burial was in the Dripping Springs Cemetery. The Robertson Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements and the body remained at the funeral Home until time for the service.
