Jesse Leo Sayler, 70, of rural Burlington, Kansas, passed away Monday, December 7, 2015, at St Luke's Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri.
Jess was born September 2, 1945, in Kansas City, Kansas, one of the seven children of Robert Leo and Ida Faye (Bowden) Sayler.
When Jess was young the family lived in various places before settling in the Princeton area in Franklin County, Kansas. He graduated from Princeton High School in 1963.
In 1965 he and Mary Jane Brooks were married. They were later divorced.
Following school he went into the construction business with his father. He later built houses as a partner in Sayler and Taylor Construction. In 1977 he was employed by Daniel's International during the construction of the Wolf Creek Generating Station near Burlington. He later was employed by Precision Pipe Cover in Topeka where he worked until his retirement on December 31, 2014.
On February 11, 1977, he and Betty Hegg were married at Miami, Oklahoma. She survives of the home.
He also leaves his three children, Michelle Rene Dolph and husband Monty, Edmond, Oklahoma, Bobbi Jo Brady and husband Tony, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Robert Ryan Sayler and wife Tara, Lawrence, Kansas; ten grandchildren, Jessica, Mandy, and Cassidy Dolph, Ethan, Elijah, and Aiden Brady, and Tori, Megan, Jessica, and Jake Sayler; brothers and sisters, Eva Trober and husband Bob, Kansas City, KS,, Mike Sayler and wife Debbie, Topeka, Buddy Sayler and wife Connie, Kansas City, KS, Jerry Sayler and wife Cynthia, Princeton, and Robin Lloyd and husband Bill, Princeton; a brother-in-law, Jimmy Walker, Ottawa, KS; a number of nieces and nephews; many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Carol Walker.
Cremation is planned. Memorial services will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, December 12, 2015, at Jones Funeral Home in Burlington.
The family will meet with friends from 10:00 A.M. until service time Saturday at the funeral home.
Inurnment will be in Graceland Cemetery in Burlington at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Coffey County Resource Council and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
