SFC Louis Wayne Allen, U.S. Army, Ret., age 69, a resident and native of Long Beach, MS, passed away on Saturday, December 5, 2015in Gulfport, MS.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Agnes Hatem Allen and Owen Allen; his sisters, Frances Jarrett and Loretta Allen; and his brothers, James L. Allen, Harold E. Allen, and Philip O. Allen.

Mr. Allen is survived by his wife of 45 years, Isabel Cruthirds Allen of Long Beach, MS; his two children, Ryan Wayne Allen and Rachel Melissa Allen and her husband, Jess; his siblings, Mary Margaret Peterson of Long Beach, MS, Ronald A. Allen of Fayetteville, NC, Gary E. Allen of Martin, GA, and Robert M. Allen of East Lynn, WV; his two grandchildren, Elena and Jameson; and many very close in-laws, family and friends.

Louis attended Long Beach Schools and Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. He retired from the US Army as a Sergeant First Class and served two tours of duty during the Vietnam War and received the Bronze Star Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal and numerous commendations. Louis also retired from the US Postal Service and was employed with the Grand Casino, Gulfport until Hurricane Katrina.

He enjoyed any activities involving family, fishing, hunting and the New Orleans Saints and was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans .

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Thursday, December 10, 2015 at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 19130 Commission Road, Long Beach, MS. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 PM on Friday, December 11, 2015 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, Long Beach, MS with a visitation for family and friends from Noon until the Mass. Burial will follow in Long Beach City Cemetery.
