Dewey A. Curtis, 90, of Russellville, died Wednesday, December 21, 2005, at Saint Mary's Regional Medical Center. A son of the late Samuel Henry and Myrtle Rash Curtis, he was born July 20, 1915, at Hector. He worked for Chase Bag Company in Crossett for over 35 years, was an United States Army veteran of World War II, was a Free and Accepted Mason in Lodge # 576 in Crossett and a member of First Freewill Baptist Church in Crossett.
Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Judy and Dennis McKee of Crossett; and Rhonda Woestman of Russellville; a daughter-in-law, Leona Curtis of Dumas; a brother and sister-in-law, Vence and Emma Lee Curtis of Marquette, Michigan; a sister, Zola Adcock of Modesto, California; five grandchildren, Spencer and Brandon Woestman of Russellville, Janice Thornton of Dumas, Margie Wood of Monticello and Tracy Hawkin of Dumas; six great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Jean Curtis, a son, Vence Curtis, and seven brothers and sisters.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Friday, December 23, in the Shinn Funeral Home chapel in Russellville with Rev. Jerry Vinson officiating. Burial followed at the Forks of the Creek Cemetery near Hector. Active pallbearers were Ken and Kenneth Golden, Dennis McKee, Spencer and Brandon Woestman and David Griffith.
