Ruby Pearl Adams, 76, passed away Tuesday, April 14, 2015 in Baytown, Texas.

She was born September 21, 1938 to parents Hollis and Pauline Carney in Tyler Town, Mississippi.

Ruby married John Quincy Adams on July 14, 1961 and they soon started a beautiful family together. Ruby was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a secretary for many years with Galena Park Independent School District. Ruby and her husband John, together with her brother Buddy and sister-in-law Linda Carney, opened Brother-in-Laws BBQ in 1981 in the Cloverleaf area.

She is preceded in death by her parents; and grandson, Kevin Langston Shimek. Ruby is lovingly survived by her husband of 54 years, John Q. Adams, Sr.; son, John Q. Adams, Jr. and wife, Joni; daughters, Andrea Shimek and husband Gary, Kim Wood; sisters and brother, Judy Jenkins and husband, Don, Ann Reuter, Buddy Carney and wife, Linda; grandchildren, Britni Cooper and husband Gary, Bryson Adams, Brendan Adams, Brianne Adams, Keith Shimek, Dakota Doherty, Stryker Doherty; great-grandchildren, Tanner Cooper and Jett Cooper; as well as numerous extended family members and friends.

Friends were welcomed to join the family for visitation from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, April 17, 2015 at Carter Funeral Home.

Funeral services, officiated by Rev. Johnny Brady, was held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 18, 2015 at Fellowship of the Nations, 13305 Woodforest Blvd., Houston, Texas 77015.

Graveside services were held at San Jacinto Memorial Park, Houston, Texas, under the direction of Carter Funeral Home.
