Carl was born May 10, 1942 in Orangefield, TX to parents of Ira Branch Rodgers and Leona Higginbotham Rodgers of Louisiana. He has resided in Houston for the past 37 years. He began American Transmission in 1980 and continued to grow the company throughout the community that included six stores for 36 years. He had a love for classic cars that included entering car shows and parades. Carl had a great passion for coaching youth sports including baseball, softball, basketball, football, and much more. His gift of teaching the games as well as life lessons to young children and teenagers has left a great impact on countless children and their families. He was involved in the community coaching little league ball, YMCA and also coached at Faith Christian Academy and Harvest Christian Academy. One of his greatest enjoyments in life was spending time with family and he loved playing basketball with his children and grandchildren. .
Mr. Rodgers was preceded in death by his parents, son Carl Dean Rodgers, daughter Carla Jean Rodgers and brother Willie Ray Laviolette.
Service celebrating Carl’s life will be at Saturday, August 29, 2015,Niday Funeral Home – Beamer Chapel. Interment will follow at South Park Cemetery in Pearland.
In lieu of usual remembrances, memorial contributions in Carl’s name may be made to the Helping Hands Ministry of Sagemont Church or the Alzheimer’s Association.
