He was the son of Nathaniel Turner and Ann Sargent. He was a member of the Legislative Council of Queensland, 18 Apr 1878 to 30 Jul 1900. He married Adelaide Mary Jane Palmer on 7 August 1855, and they had 3 sons.  Education: Church Missionary College, Waimate, New Zealand.; Tasmanian private schools. Opened the Union Bank in Brisbane, c.1852. Trustee, Lady Bowen Hospital; Member, Queensland Acclimatisation Society.
