John was born to John Madison Horton & Nancy Ann Roberts. Late 1919 he & Lillian Alma Hall fled to Toledo, OH. John was on the lam and took on the alias of Wm. Hairisen while living in Ohio . His children Robert, Rosealie, LeRoy, & William were all given the last name of Hairisen at birth. When John and Lillian separated from each other ca. 1940, John began using his birth name again.
