RICHMOND, Ind. – Jay C. Edwards, age 77, of Richmond, died Tuesday, December 8, 2015, at his home. Born October 1, 1938, in Richmond to Noah "Joe" and Edna Mae Stevens Edwards, Jay lived in Richmond most of his life. He served in the U.S. Army from 1961 - 1963. Jay retired from the Richmond Sanitary Department. He was a member of the Tarum Shrine and was Rosebud the Clown in the Scooter Patrol. Survivors include his son, Eric A. (Sarah) Edwards of Fishers, Indiana; two grandchildren, Ellie and Sadie Edwards; sister, Marcia "Marty" (Clay) Taylor of Williamsburg, Indiana; nieces; and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna L. Edwards, who died June 25, 2001; son, Darin J. Edwards who died November 5, 2015; and parents. Visitation for Jay C. Edwards will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 11, 2015, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 11, 2015, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home with Pastor Keith Vincent officiating. Burial will be in Earlham Cemetery with military honors provided by the Wayne County Honor Guard.
