When Myrtle Alice Minton was born on June 30, 1940, in Dunlap, Tennessee, her father, Ernest, was 34, and her mother, Daisy, was 26. She married Donald Rufus Smith about 1958 in Georgia, and they raised three children together. She died on May 29, 2014, in Capac, Michigan, at the age of 73.
