A native of Cherokee County, he was the husband of Mary Hawkins Norman and son of the late James Robert and Julia Morris Norman. He was a member of Antioch Baptist Church in Blacksburg and a lifetime member of the North American Hunters Association.
Mr. Norman was retired from Industrial Minerals Inc. of Kings Creek and was a former employee of Fiber Industries in Earl, N.C. He served in the United States Army.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Roy and Max Norman.
Surviving in addition to his wife are three sons, Carlton Norman, Chris Norman and Jeff Norman, all of Blacksburg; a daughter, Leslie Norman Jones of Summerville; two brothers, Summie Norman of Kings Mountain, N.C., and James E. Norman of Blacksburg; four sisters, Pauline Watterson, Mary Reid Conner, both of Blacksburg, Margaret Smith of Kings Mountain and Ruby Huskey of Henrietta; and six grandchildren.
Services will be held at Antioch Baptist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
