Walter S. Short, age 91 years, of Archbold, passed away Friday afternoon, November 20, 2015, at Fairlawn Haven in Archbold. He was born April 4, 1924, at Wauseon, the son of Cletus and Mary (Wyse) Short, and married Ilva Sauder on June 4, 1944. A lifelong resident of the Archbold area, he was co-owner of Pettisville Grain for 14 years, manager at Lugbill Sale Barn for 20 years, Lugbill Brothers shop for 10 years and part time at Lugbill Supply Center. He enjoyed making wood crafts, coon hunting and spending time at their lake cottage with family and friends. He was a member of the Central Mennonite Church near Archbold.

He is survived by his wife, Ilva; four children, Sally Roth of Bluffton, Michael (Dana) Short, Dianne (Ron) Lantz, and Bradley (Lisa) Short all of Archbold; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Doris (Andrew) King, Deloris (Marvin “Tex”) Wyse, and Evelyn (Wesley) Wyse all of Archbold.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son-in-law, Tom Roth; and two brothers, Dale and Willard “Bill” Short.

Memorial services will be held on Tuesday at 4 PM at Central Mennonite Church with Pastors David Elkins and Regina Wenger officiating. Interment will precede in the Pettisville Cemetery. Friends may call at Central from 2:30-4 PM on Tuesday. The family suggests that memorials be given to Mennonite Central Committee or the Donor’s Favorite Charity.
