Bossier City, LA - I, Wayne Mills, departed this earth for Heaven on December 6, 2015. I was born August 19, 1939 in Saline, Louisiana and was reborn into the family of God in 1952, at a tent revival in El Dorado, AR. If you are reading this in the newspaper, you may think I am dead, when actually I am more alive now than I have ever been. I have had eternal life since the age of 13, when I made Jesus LORD of my life. I have loved Him more with each new day, and telling others that He died so that we could live has been such a privilege. With His very life, He paid my debt for sin that I could never have paid in a million lifetimes.

I was preceded to Heaven by my parents, Carl Eugene and Edna Marie Mills, and my grandparents, as well as all my Christian ancestors. There is so much love here and beauty and joy that are indescribable. God's word says, "Things which the eye has not seen and the ear has not heard and which have not entered the heart of man, all that God has prepared for those who love Him." 1st Cor. 2:9. God and Jesus light up heaven so it never gets dark here. It is always bright. "The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and the Lamb is its lamp." Rev. 21:23.

During my earthly life, I worked as a Journeyman construction electrician for 40 years, and was a member of IBEW local union #194. I belonged to the family of Airline Baptist Church and the Seasoned Servants Sunday Schools Class, and have been an Ordained Deacon for many years. I loved singing in the choirs and praising God with my fellow choir members, and singing special music as my witness to my Lord and Savior, with my God-given voice, for over 60 years. Although this has brought me great joy and fellowship with brothers and sisters in Christ, and was precious to me, all earthly things cannot compare with the exquisite joy of knowing Him!

Temporarily, I leave behind my wife of 11 years, Janice Marlowe Mills, and other precious family members, including my four wonderful, loving, caring children from my first marriage: Dr. Diana Veillon, Medical Professor and husband, Tommy of Bossier City; Marsha Cook and husband, Mike of Abbeville, GA; Lisa Riggan and husband, Jeff of Bossier City; and son, John Mills and wife, Lisa of Concord, N. Carolina, and my wonderful sister, like no other, Marie Whidden and her husband, Marion of Okeechobee, FL., their daughters, Wanda and husband, Ted Weilland, Sandra and husband, Mark Johnson, sons, Eugene and wife, Cathy and Charlie and wife, Vallerie, 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, many step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren, also two wonderful and supportive step-children, Scott Marlowe and Susan Trainor, both of Benton, and brother-in-law, Jack Butler and his wife, Cissy of Burnet, Texas. One day we will be reunited, because they too, belong to God through His Son, Jesus Christ, Lord and Savior of our lives. My prayer is that believers reading this may be encouraged, but, more eternally important, that unbelieving hearts may be touched by God and drawn to Him by the Holy Spirit. I pray that your life would be changed and that you would become a new creature in Christ. I hope I'll see you here one glorious day. Begin your new eternal life today - receive Christ.

Visitation will be at Airline Baptist Church, Thursday, December 10th beginning at 9:00 a.m. with a ceremony of my life to follow at 11:00 a.m . Interment service will follow at Hill Crest Memorial Cemetery, Haughton, LA. The ceremony will be conducted by Billy Pierce, Harrell Shelton and Mike Cook. Pallbearers will be Bill Duckworth, Rodney Walker, Les Dillahunty, John Anderson, Bob Bryant and Billy Wood.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Airline Baptist Church Building Fund.
