Mrs. Harriett Twine Succumbs To Illness
Following a seige of ill-health lasting over a year, Mrs. Harriett Ann Twine passed away about 5:30 o'clock Friday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W. S. Perry. Mrs. Twine was 63 years old and a native of Chowan County, a daughter of the late Ephraim and Harriett Ann Churchill. She spent a number of years in Perquimans County, returning to Chowan County to live about five years ago.
Surviving are her husband, Joel N. Twine; a daughter, Mrs. W. S. Perry; a sister, Mrs. Claudia Twine, of Norfolk, Va.; a brother, W. L. Churchill, of Portsmouth, Va. Four grandchildren, William Perry, of Fort Benning, Ga., Virginian Mae Perry, Merrill Perry and Lyn Perry, of Edenton, also survive, as well as a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon in the Baptist Church, with the pastor, the Rev. E. L. Wells, officiating. Interment was made in Beaver Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were: D. E. Hobbs, A. M. Privott, E. E. Twine, C. E. Twine, Johnnie Hobbs and T. E. Madre.
Those from out-of-town attending the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Yeatman, Mr. and Mrs. George Booth, Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Twine, Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Twine, Mr. and Mrs. D. E. Hobbs, Miss Elizabeth Hobbs, Mrs. D. C. Forehand, Mrs. Carroll Forehand, Mrs. Eleanor Hopkins, N. W. Blount, A. M. Privott, Johnnie Hobbs and two sons, all of Norfolk, Va.; W. L. Churchill and Benjamin Churchill, of Portsmouth, Va.; Earl Whitehurst, Mr. and Mrs. G. H. Bateman, Sidney Sutton, Mrs. S. L. Dail, Mr. and Mrs. Lonnie Jennings, of Elizabeth City; Mrs. Effie Miller of Winfall; Mr. and Mrs. T. E. Madre, Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Lane, of Hertford; Mrs. Eddie Hollowell and Mrs. Tom Forehand, of Center Hill.
