George "Booger" Ford of Tryon, NC passed away Monday afternoon, December 7, 2015 in Autumn Care of Saluda, NC following a long illness.

Born in Lynn, NC, he was the son of the late Robert Leland Ford and Annie Mae Fisher Ford. Mr. Ford was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. After his time in the Navy, he returned to Polk County and operated the Gas for Less Station in Tryon. Later, he went to work for Celanese Corporation in Greer, SC until his health declined. He was a past member of the Lions Club and an active member of Lynn First Baptist Church. Mr. Ford was an avid fisherman and enjoyed cooking and baking cakes for his family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of twenty-five years, Rometta Ford who passed away in June of 2015; three brothers, Buck Ford, Bill Ford and Shobe Ford; one sister, Bobbie Allison; one grandchild, Maddy Ford one nephew, Tim Allison.

Surviving are two sons, “Rob” Warren Ford of Greenville, SC and Tony Ford (Rene) of Campobello, SC; four grandchildren, Connor, Logan, Michalee and Ellie. Also surviving are three nephews, Kerry Ford (Shelia), Fred Allison and Phil Allison; one niece, Kim Ford.
