Shannon M. Hays, 90, of Reliance, TN, died on Sunday, September 22, 2013 in a local health care facility.
She was born on November 23, 1922 to the late Selma and James O'Mara of Indianapolis, IN. Shannon was a graduate of the old Emrich Manual High School in Indianapolis, IN. She was loved by all those who knew her and was a charter member of the Benton Seventh-day Adventist Church.
She was preceded in death by her step-father, Lewthaniel Pettigrew; and husbands, Ed Hays and Kirk Key.
She is survived by her three sons, Robert H. VanDevander, Jr. (Donna), John M. VanDevander (Sharon) and David J. VanDevander (Angela); adopted daughter, Louise Ostgard; grandchildren, Angie Krukemeier (Tom), Rob VanDevander, III (Terri), Julie Gabler (Don), Linda Waters (John), David VanDevander, II and Matthew VanDevander; eight great-grandchildren; brothers, James O'Mara of Indianapolis, IN and Richard O'Mara (Pat) of Beechgrove, IN; and many nieces and nephews.
Interment will be in a private ceremony in Etowah, TN and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
