John Roberts Sr.
John C. Roberts Sr., 76, of Star City, died Sunday at Jefferson Hospital. A retired timberman and sawmill operator, he was born at Green Hill (Drew County), a son of the late Robert and Emma Crawford Roberts.
He worked in the timber business in Lincoln County for 50 years and was a member of the First Baptist Church at Star City.

Survivors include his wife, the former Miss Fannie Clary, who he married in 1920; two sons, John C. Roberts Jr. of Star City and Robert W. Roberts of Little Rock; a daughter, Mrs. Marine R. Drake of Star City; three brothers, Mead Roberts of Memphis, Ray Roberts of Dumas and Payne Roberts of Marion, Louisiana; four sisters, Mrs. Alma Archer of Monticello, Mrs. Ruby Blankenship and Mrs. Bertha McClain of Houston, and Mrs. Elizabeth Lynch of Columbus, Ohio; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a. m. Tuesday at Primitive Baptist Church at Star City. Burial will be in Drake Cemetery by Ralph Robinson & Son Mortuary of Pine Bluff.

Pallbearers will be Buck Blyth, June Henley, Donald Drake, Havis Donaldson, Ralph Clary and Mak Parks.
