MARIE KENT, 85 ROCKFORD - Marie Kent, 85, of Rockford, passed away on Friday, December 4, 2015, in her home. She was born September 14, 1930, in Rockford, IL.; the daughter of Ike J. and Ida M. (Sharp) Harms. She married Aldor L. Kent on May 3, 1952, in Rockford; he predeceased her January 7, 2014. Marie was a 1949 graduate of East High School. She was employed with W.F. and John Barnes for many years. She co-managed a 6-family apartment building on Halsted Rd. with her husband. Marie was an avid reader, great conversationalist and always interested in current events. Marie's keen eye towards design helped her make beautiful silk flower arrangements.
She is survived by her daughter, Victoria (James) Putnam; grandsons, Shawn, (Marie) Putnam and Matthew Putnam; great-granddaughters, Carmen and Kara; and great-grandsons, Nate and Johnathon; and nephew, Alex Armato.
Predeceased by her parents; sister, Patricia Armato and great-grandson, Robert James in 2006.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, December 8, 2015 in Olson Funeral & Cremation Services, Ltd., Fred C. Olson Chapel, 1001 Second Ave. Rockford, with Rev. Calvin Culpepper officiating.
