Max Elwin Dennis, 85, Janesville, WI, passed away peacefully on July 14, 2010, at his home. He was born on Jan. 13, 1925, in Oakland, IL, son of Garlen and Lucy (Pribble) Dennis. He served in the U. S. Navy during World War II, and was stationed throughout the South Pacific. He received the Pacific Theater Ribbon, the American Theater Ribbon, the Victory Medal, and the Philippines Liberation Ribbon. He was discharged in May of 1946. Max attended college at UW-River Falls, majoring in Ag Business. While in college, he married Carolyn “Nan” Busk in 1949. He worked in agri-business throughout his entire career, serving as manager of Production Credit Association for 10 years. For the remaining 25 years he worked as loan officers and vice-presidents at Rock County Savings and Trust, Johnson Bank, Footville State Bank, and Commercial Bank. He retired in 1989. Through the years, Max fulfilled several roles as director, chairman or member of local organizations including Jaycees, Toastmasters, Elks, United Way, American Institute of Banking, Janesville Taxpayers League, Rock County 4-H Fair, and Wisconsin Bankers Association. He was a member for over 50 years of Cargill United Methodist Church. Max loved gardening, tinkering with his farm equipment, and raising an occasional farm animal. He was an avid reader. Above all else, Max loved spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Henke-Clarson Funeral Home.
