Last rites for Alexander F. Joplin, 72, café owner, were held in the church chapel of Angelus Funeral Home last Saturday. The aged man was stabbed to death late Wednesday evening when he tried to protect one of the waitresses employed in his place at 4575 Central avenue, from a murderous attack by a former sweetheart, James Jenkins. He leaves a daughter, Mrs. Nagatha Gomes, with whom he made his home at 1022 East 45th street. The rites were conducted by Rev S.M. Beane, pastor of Hamilton ME church and interment was in Evergreen Cemetery.
