Helen Harris Cooke, 91, of Chattanooga, passed away on Saturday, December 05, 2015.

Helen was born in Palmer, Tennessee to the late Hubert and Lela Tate Lewis. She attended Grundy County High School and was a longtime resident of Chattanooga. Helen was a member of White Oak Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, World War II veteran, Bronze Star and Purple Heart recipient, Army Pfc. Cecil E. Harris whose remains were found in France, in September of 2013. She was also preceded in death by her second husband, David Wayne Cooke and siblings, Vernon Lewis and Carol Rice.

Helen is survived by Edwin "Eddie" (Mary Jo) Harris, Sr. of Mountain City, TN, Jim (Vickey) Cooke of Sequatchie County and Mark Thunderwolfe, formerly known as Mark Lynn Cooke of Rock Springs, WY; six grandchildren; brother, Howard (Oma Lee) Lewis; sister, Nellie Boyd, several great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 pm on Tuesday, Dec. 8, and 11 am to 1 pm on Wednesday at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.

A Celebration of Helen's life will be follow at 1 pm on Wednesday at the North Chapel with Dr. Tony Wilson and Chaplain Reggie Asplund officiating. Burial will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Helen's name to White Oak Baptist Church, 310 Memorial Drive, Chattanooga, TN 37415.

Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson.
