Martha Pauline Lucas, 92, of rural Bowling Green, Ind., and formerly of Anderson, passed away peacefully at Terre Haute's Union Hospital Thursday, December 3, 2015, just after 10 p.m.
Pauline was born March 1, 1923, in Bloomington, the daughter of the late Charles and Louie (Kates) Brough. She graduated from Bloomington High School. She worked at the RCA in Bloomington for a few years after high school. She spent most of her life as a loving housewife and mother. Pauline enjoyed quilting, baking, canning, gardening and watching college basketball. She was also a long-time volunteer with Farm Bureau.
She is survived by her husband Earl Lucas, 93, who she married on Nov. 25, 1943. Earl and Pauline have two children, Gary (Tonya) Lucas of Anderson and Darleen (Ben) Carron of Roanoke. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Jeffrey Gregory of Joliet, Ill., Troy (Jennica) Lucas of Broadway, Va., Trina Krompack of Lapel. Pauline has four great-grandchildren, Quinn & Cade Lucas and Isabella and Connor Krompack. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends and neighbors.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister and four brothers.
Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Schoppenhorst Funeral Home, 301 East Eighth St. Clay City, Ind., 47841, 812-939-2112. The funeral service is 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Nyes Chapel Cemetery.
