Mrs. Clifton died Tuesday, April 18, in Roseville. She was 74.
She was born Aug. 2, 1931, in Joliet, Ill. She graduated from Joliet Township High School. She served in the U.S. Navy WAVE's from 1950 to 1953, at Camp Pendleton in Oceanside. She worked for 39 years for the Social Security Administration. She was a previous 40 year resident of Grass Valley, before moving to Roseville to live close to her daughter. She was a member of the Adventure Christian Church, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Women's Auxiliary. She enjoyed roses, crocheting and macrame.
She is survived by her son, Curtis Wayne Clifton; daughters Rene'e Hedinger, and Cynthia Lynette Scott; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, William A. Uphoff; and daughter, Lisette Denise Giddings.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Nevada County Honor Guard.
