Nick or Spoon, as some of his friends called him, passed away suddenly on Sunday morning, December 16, 2012. He was born in San Diego, California to Kelly and Philip Petersen. He grew up in the Singing Hills area of El Cajon where he played baseball at Singing Hills Little League, played soccer in the Los Amigos indoor soccer league, and wrestled in the Valhalla Kids Wrestling program. He attended schools in the Cajon Valley Union School District and Valhalla High School where he wrestled and played football. He was recognized as the2007 Industrial Arts Student of the Year and graduated as a distinguished student. After graduation, he attended junior college but found that general education studies weren’t his cup of tea and joined the IBEW Electrical Contractors Apprenticeship to follow in his father’s footsteps. He excelled in the program and regularly received commendations from his supervisors regarding his outstanding work. Nick’s great love of life included riding his motorcycle, off-roading in his jeep, playing softball and hunting with his beloved dog, Harley. He used to like the Chargers and even had season tickets for a couple of years.

There will be a visitation at East County Mortuary (374 N. Magnolia, El Cajon, CA) from 5 – 8:30pm on Friday, December 21, 2012 and services to celebrate his life on Saturday, December 22, 2012 at 12:00 noon at The Church of St. Luke Catholic Church (1980 Hillsdale Road, El Cajon, CA).
