Roland DeGraw Butler returned to his Heavenly Father after a courageous battle with heart disease on April 20, 1995.

He was born September 8, 1925 in East Millcreek, Utah to Jacob Alma and Dessie Annaretta DeGraw Butler.

He grew up in Kamas, Utah and graduated from South Summit High School. He served as an MP during World War II. He graduated from Eastern Oregon College of Education, LDS Business College and LaSalle University with a degree in accounting. While attending LDS Business College, he met his sweetheart, Julia Ellen Chidester, they were married October 7, 1952 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

He was an accountant for Soil Conservation and retired after 30 years of service. He loved golfing, was an avid reader, and music was his whole life. He had a beautiful singing voice and started each day with a song. He was extremely neat and orderly. His whistling while working brought joy and peace to his family. He was a High Priest in the LDS Church. He loved his many church callings, serving as music director, Elders Quroum president, and ward and stake finance clerk for many years. He was presently on the Church Finance Task Committee and a veil worker in the Salt Lake Temple. He and his wife served in the Tennessee Nashville Mission. He will be deeply missed for his loving kindness, patience and friendliness to all.

He is survived by his wife; daughters, Kathlene Hepworth, Michele Hoskins; granddaughters, Nicole and Amber Hepworth, Brooke, Heather, Tiffany and Alicia Hoskins; brothers, Ira and Dale; sisters, Olga Cole, Lydia Carpenter, Edna Mitchell. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Glenn and Gerald.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 25, 1995 at 12 noon in the Rose Park 4th Ward (760 No. 1200 W.). Friends may call Monday 6-8 p.m. at Russon Brothers Mortuary (255 S. 200 E., SLC) and Tuesday 10:45-11:45 a.m. at the ward. Interment, Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
