Elizabeth"Betty"L.Schanaman Becker, 81, of rural Scottsbluff, passed away on December 4, 2015. A funeral service will be held Dec 8, 2015 at Zion Evangelical Church in Scottsbluff. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Scottsbluff. Betty was born June 26, 1934 into the large family of Henry and Molly (Popp) Schanaman. She was born in Scottsbluff and attended the duration of her school years in Scottsbluff. Betty’s brothers, Floyd and Harry, had a friend named Gene Becker. The two met and became a couple. They were married on January 5, 1951. A year later they welcomed their first child, Jeanette, soon to be followed by her sister, Sandy,and brother,Kelly. The family farmed together in the Lake Alice area and continues to today. Betty worked joyfully alongside her husband farming, irrigating, and driving truck. Her grandchildren have fond memories of her driving a 10-speed International truck, with her hair done and a full glovebox of candy. Betty drove school bus for both Lake Alice and Scottsbluff schools. She sang in the choir at Zion Evangelical Church, was an avid bowler and loved her dogs. Her biggest love of all was her family. She never missed her grandchildren’s sporting events and cherished hosting big family dinners at her house. She will be greatly missed. She is preceeded in death by her parents; and eleven sisters and brothers.
