Obituary for Raymond Vance Hawkins

Mr. Raymond Vance Hawkins, 88, of Clemmons, died Thursday December 3, 2015. Raymond was born November 6, 1927 in Charlotte to Fred and Georgia Hawkins. He served his country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict and was a long time resident of Statesville where he retired from AT&T. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Statesville and served as a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher. Raymond was a loving husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed golf and attending his grandsons’ sporting events. He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Ruth; two children, Michael Hawkins and wife Beverly and Regina Hawkins Schomberg and husband David; three grandchildren, Andi Watkins and husband Ben, Will Schomberg and Ben Schomberg along with two great grandchildren, Emma and Zoe Watkins. A graveside service will be held 2:00 P.M. Saturday, December 5, 2015 at Westlawn Gardens of Memory Mausoleum Chapel with Rev. Bill Long officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care Center, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103. Online condolences may be made to www.hayworth-miller.com
