Captain. Topographical Engineer U.S. Army. He was a graduate of the U. S. Military Academy at West Point, Class of 1824 Conducting a Storming Party at the taking of Monterey Mexico on Sept 21, 1846, he fell and died in the hands of the enemy. His last message to his friends was "I fell in front of the column" His remains were recovered under the direction of a committee of the citizens of Buffalo and were buried with Military Honors on March 9, 1847. He was married to America Pinckney Peter who was the Great Grand daughter of Martha Washington
