Anna Margret was born in Pennsylvania to Jacob and Ann Margreta Shrader who were always thought to be Pennsylvania Dutch. Anna's bible was in German and her 1860 census record stated that she was born in Germany. Her bible was printed in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania in the 1830s. Her parents moved to Coles county, Illinois where they resided until their deaths. She married Henry Stevens on 24 April 1851 by J. B. Harris in Coles County. Henry and Anna moved to Cisne, (Wayne County), Illinois where they raised their family. She and Henry are buried in the Cisne Cemetery.
