Funeral services for Mr. Bobby Charles Matthews, 61, will be held at 11 A.M. on Monday, December 7, 2015 from the Union Primitive Baptist Church in Ruth, Mississippi. Elders Mickey Meyers and James Conerly will officiate. Mr. Matthews, a resident of Jayess, died at his residence on Friday, December 4, 2015.

He was born May 26, 1954 in McComb, Mississippi, the son of the late Gladys Alexander Matthews and Charles H. (Neva) Matthews of Jayess who survives. He was a plant manager for 26 years for Alford Lumber Company; a member of Union Primitive Baptist Church; and loved deer hunting and fishing. In addition to his mother, he was also preceded in death by a step-son, Damien Dier; his mother-in-law, Joyce McDonald; his father-in-law, Doyle McDonald; brothers-in-law, Dorman and David McDonald; and a sister-in-law, Darlene Douglas.

In addition to his father, Mr. Matthews is survived by his wife, Debra McDonald Matthews of Jayess. One daughter, Windy Spicer (Daniel Reid); a step-daughter, Joy Elkins of Ashville, North Carolina. One sister, Susan Lassiter of Jayess. Two grandchildren: Jolina and Dustin. Three sisters-in-law: Donna Sisson; Denise (Darryl) Vines; and Marianne McDonald. One brother-in-law, Dudley McDonald. Many aunts; uncles; nieces; nephews; and cousins.

Pallbearers will be: Jeremy Sisson; Roy Sisson; Michael Watts; Danny Alexander; Doug McKinney; and Daniel Reid. Honorary pallbearers will be: Taylor Vines; Ventress Vines; and Corey Carney.

Burial will be in the church cemetery with Hartman-Hughes Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Visitation on Sunday, December 6, 2015 from 5 till 9 P.M. at the funeral home and on Monday, December 7, 2015 from 9 till service time at 11 A.M. at Union Primitive Baptist Church.
