Everett Hale "Brud" McGuire, Jr. (Centre 1949, high honors)(U.K. Law 19__), was the son of Everett Hale (c1897-1972) and Eulah Hammons McGuire (1901-93), of Lexington, Ky. While at Centre College he was president of the men's student body, president of Omicron Kappa honorary society, and president of the Interfraternity Council. He recorded one of the highest scholarship averages ever recorded at Center. In graduate school he studied at the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School of Finance. He received a Fulbright Scholarship for a year's study in the field of political science at the University of Melbourne in Australia. He served in the Army during WWII. Some years later he graduated from the University of Kentucky Law School. He was employee relations manager for Bundy Tubing Co. in Winchester, Ky. His father was a banker.

He married in 1950, Sharon Lee Gibbs, daughter of Walter Irwin (1902-97) and Dorothy Lee Barr Gibbs (1910-83), of Louisville. Their children were Everett Hale, III (1952-2003), Dorothy Lee "Tisa," Walter Gibbs and Lee Hammons McGuire.
