Geraldine V. “Gerry” Olsen-Day, 93, of Fond du Lac, passed away Thursday, December 3, 2015 at home with her family by her side. She was born in Neenah, Wis. on November 16, 1922, a daughter of Gilbert and Eleanore (Gundrum) Martin. Gerry was a 1942 graduate of West Bend H.S. On September 1, 1945, she married Norman Olsen in West Bend. He preceded her in death on June 29, 1988. On July 20, 1991, she married Gordon Day in Ft. Atkinson, Wis. He preceded her in death on January 5, 2012.
Gerry loved her family, especially her grandchildren. Her son, Neil, showed that same love towards her in his attention and care for Gerry in her later years. She was fun loving, had a sense of humor and enjoyed life to the fullest.
Surviving Gerry are her 2 sons; Marty (Kathy) of Plantation, Fla. and Neil (Deb) of Fond du Lac; 5 grandchildren, John (Rebecca), Brian (Anna), Michael Curran, Kristopher and Britney; 2 great-granddaughters, Ava and Christine; 2 brothers, Don and Fred; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to Norman and Gordon, she was preceded in death by her parents; 3 sisters, Eleanore, Marietta and Eileen; and 1 brother, Gilbert “Gibby”.
A visitation for Gerry will be held on Monday, December 7, 2015 from 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, 524 N. Park Ave. in Fond du Lac. A time of remembrance will follow at 6:00 PM. Cremation has taken place and burial in Ledgeview Memorial Park Cemetery will occur at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Gerry’s name.
