Mary Jane was the daughter of Nathaniel Gallop and Elizabeth (Esterbrook) Gallop. She married Patrick McMillan in 1854.

They had the following children:
1. Henry Allen McMillan (1855-1939)
2. George Albert McMillan (1857-1951)
3. John Alfred McMillan (1859-1859)
4. Alfred Douglas McMillan (1862-1941)
5. Fraser John McMillan (1864-1942)

7. Howard Wentworth Cameron McMillan (1876-1956)
