Born on June 1, 1934 at Maple River, Iowa, Emaline was the daughter of Frank (X.F.) and Matilda (Kennebeck) Hoffman. She spent her younger years in the Maple River area and attended St. Francis School. On February 24, 1954 she was united in marriage to Cletus Halbur at St. Francis Catholic Church in Maple River with Fr. Peter M. Mattes officiating.
