Willie Opal was the fifth of nine children born to John Lee Carpenter and Lou Vici Davis. Only six, all daughters, survived to adulthood, Arrie A, Sarah Anna, Allie Myrtle who was my grandmother, Nola Martha Mae, Willie Opal and Jessie Marie.

Willie married Pink Armstrong on December 25, 1919, Greenville, Hunt County, Texas. They came to Graham in 1927 to make their home.

Services for Willie Opal Armstrong, 88, were held at the Church of God in Graham officiated by Rev. J.W. Hill, the pastor, and Rev. F.M. Small, a former pastor.

Willie Opal Carpenter married P.J. Armstrong on 25 December 1919 at Celeste, Texas. He preceded her in death. The couple moved to Graham in 1928. She moved to Arlington in 1987 from Graham, Texas.

Survived by two sons - Billy J. Armstrong and Louis G. Armstrong; one daughter - Dorothy L. Veal; one sister - Jessie Davis; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law - Edith Armstrong.

She was preceded in death by one daughter - Vera Armstrong and one son - Gene Armstrong.
