Barbara Anne Brooks Grace, 83 years, 11 months and 20 days, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 6, 2014 at the Pineville Community Hospital. She was born in Pineville on November 17, 1930 the daughter of the late Dr. James Milton, Sr. and Lula Eva Venable Brooks. She was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church, where she was very active in the church serving on many committees for the church including: Social, Decorating, Flower and Lord's Supper Committees and supported the Shoe Box Christmas Project. Barbara had been the First Baptist ChurchPianist for over 70 years and taught piano lessons for more than 40 years, introducing area children to the love of music. Barbara graduated from Georgetown College with a double major in Music and Business. She had been a small business owner of the Pineville Florist, Inc. and Ceramic Corner. An outstanding cook and seamstress (she made many of her own and her daughters' clothing) she was also a gracious hostess, opening her home to family and friends to celebrate special occasions. Barbara was a founding member of the Southeast KY Fine Arts Association. Using some of her many talents, Barbara made KMLF Queen's crowns for more than 35 years; knitted scarves for Special Olympics, KY and sweaters for Guidepost Magazine's Sweater Project. Barbara was a member of the Tuesday Morning Breakfast and the Friday FloCoe Ladies Lunch Clubs. A Breast Cancer survivor for 20 years, Barbara was active in ACS Relay for Life for 10 years, serving as founding Chair for the Relay Luminary Committee and on the Planning Committee.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 59 years and 8 months, Charles Keith Grace; grandson, Joseph Andrew Smith and brother, Dr.
James Milton Brooks, Jr.

She is survived by her two daughters: Sharon Anne "Shay" Grace and Marilou Brooks "Piddle" Grace Johnson; grandson, Brooks Keith Johnson; nieces and nephews: Milton and Teresa Brooks, Russell and Kim Brooks, Bob and Jane Brooks, Charles H. and Bennie Grace, Lujayne Crawford and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be on Sunday at 3:00 PM at the First Baptist Church, Pineville, with Rev. Ron Howard. Music will be by Karen Greene Blondell. Burial will be in the Pineville Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Milton Brooks, Russell Brooks, Bob Brooks, Ben Brooks, Luke Brooks, Lee J. Brooks, Brian Fitzgerald, Eddie Morris and Charles H Grace and Jon Charles Grace.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 PM Saturday at the First Baptist Church,
Pineville.
