GORDON FREDERIC PARKER

Gordon Frederic Parker, 80, died Monday 12/01/2015 at 11:15 a.m. in his home. Gordon was born in Wauwatosa, WI to the late Kenneth Parker and Alice (Pirwitz) Parker. Gordon was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Donna Sue (Lunceford) Parker in 2007. Surviving siblings are Janet (Parker) and Ray Cooper, Michael and Marilyn Parker, and Cheryl (Parker) Tindall. Gordon met his future wife of 59 years, Donna Sue (Lunceford) Parker in the summer of 1954. They met at a car hop, Vernons Drive Inn Restaurant in Merced, California. They got engaged Christmas Eve, 1955. He graduated from Merced Union High School in June of 1953. Donna and Gordon were married in the Chapel of the Central Presbyterian Church in Merced, California on June 30, 1956 by Dr. Earle R. Harvey at 4:00 p.m. They resided in Merced until Gordon was drafted into the Army in June, 1958. Donna joined Gordon in Germany in January of 1959.
Gordon Keith Parker, their first child, was born April 1, 1959 in Ansbach, Germany. He survives along with his wife Diana Marie (West) Parker, and their children, the late Ryan Keith Parker and Calvin Dean and Anna Parker of Gas City, Indiana. Gordon joined Donna back in Atwater, California following his tour of duty in the Army in May, 1960. They resided in the Merced, Atwater area until fall of 1965. Plainfield, New Jersey became their new place of residence until March of 1966. Donna and Gordon moved to Weyawaga, Wisconsin and then to Portsmith, Ohio in the spring of 1966. They relocated to La Mirada, California in January of 1967.
Gary Douglas Parker, their second child was born April 30, 1967 in La Mirada, California. He survives along with his wife Christina Kay (Simpson) Parker, and their children, Matthew Scott and Sarah Helen Parker-Grand Rapids, Michigan, Justin Douglas Parker and Amber Christine Parker of Wabash, Indiana.
Donna and Gordon again moved back to Merced, California in September of 1967 and then to Vineland, New Jersey in July of 1968.
Gregory Kent Parker, their third child, was born May 2, 1969 in Vineland, New Jersey. He survives in Marion, Indiana. His children, Michael Greg Parker and Jennifer Lyn (Parker) Gallaway survive in Wabash, IN.
Donna and Gordon made their final re-location in August of 1973 to Marion, Indiana where they lived out the rest of their lives as a Daughter, Son, Wife, Husband, Mother, Father, Best Friends, and Grandparents.
They loved spending time with each other and their entire Family.
Donna and Gordon loved traveling through the Rocky Mountains. Their favorites were the Tetons in Wyoming and the Mission Mountains in Montana. They also enjoyed "showing Irish Setter Dogs" in the 1960's, spending time riding horses. Furthermore, they have met many relatives and friends over the last 35 years researching their ancestors back to the early 1800's.
In addition, Gordon enjoyed building and racing slot cars, camping with a good campfire, boating and fishing, building ANYTHING with his hands and mind, especially fabricating BMX bicycle hubs which are now in the BMX Hall of Fame, and most importantly, watching his three boys race BMX together. Visitation is from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, 12/04/2015 at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave, Marion, IN.
Final Resting Location will be in Winton Cemetery, Winton, California with grave side service at 10:00 a.m., Monday, 12/07/2015. Burial services officiated by Reverend Dave McGurk from The Central Presbyterian Church of Merced, California. Burial entrusted to Wilson Family Funeral Chapel of Atwater.
