Mildred Lilly (Ahrens) Franklin, 89, of Hempstead, died November 25, 2015, at Scott and White Hospital in Brenham. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, November 27, 2015, at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, November 28, 2015, at Memorial Oaks Chapel with Pastor Lee Hartmann officiating. Burial will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery.
Mildred was born in Brenham, Texas, to the late Herman Sr. and Lydia Wehring Ahrens. She married Don Franklin on March 9, 1957. Mildred and her family were members of Trinity Lutheran Church in Hempstead. She was employed by the school district in Hempstead as a tax assessor/collector.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Don Stephen Franklin; brothers: Bill, Lee, Harry, and Irwin Ahrens; and sisters: Lilly Spreen, Laverne Vash, Hilda Tegeler, and Alice Rust.
Survivors include her son, Tom Franklin and wife, Lindy; daughter, Ann Franklin, all of Houston; grandchildren: Reese Franklin and wife, Melany, Seth Franklin, and Brooks Franklin; great-grandchild, Conor Franklin; brother, Herman Ahrens, Jr., of Brenham; sisters, Helen Nienstedt, of Brenham, and Mary Winkelmann, of Lufkin; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
