Mrs. McDonald was born on July 4, 1916 in Evant and was one of nine children, born to Newt and Celia Dixon Hodo. She married J.M. Smith in 1932, they moved to Dallas in 1938. She worked as an Operator, Instructor, Service Assistant, Group Chief Operator, Area Staff Assistant to the General Traffic Manager of Texas and then the most rewarding job was the Customer Instruction Supervisor work. This job won her a Public Speaking award signed by the President of her company.

She retired in 1972 to take care of her ill husband. She lost him to death in 1983 and six years later married DW McDonald. She spent the rest of her life with DW, going to her church, exercising with her over 50 dance groups and taking care of animals.

DW preceded her in death in 2010. If you asked her as a child, what was the most exciting thing that happened to you, she would say “the time I joined the Methodist Church and was baptized in the Lampasas River”. She was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church of Evant.

She is survived by her nephews and many friends.
