M. Wayne Richards, 74, of Spring Church, died Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2015, in his residence. Born April 19, 1941, in Spring Church, he is the son of the late Lauren Samuel and Hazel Cathren Porter Richards. A veteran of the Vietnam Era, having served in the Army, he had been employed by US Steel Research in Monroeville from 1965-1992 and was also a deputy wildlife conservation officer for the Pennsylvania Game Commission for 20 years. Wayne was a 50-year member of the Boiling Springs Presbyterian Church in Spring Church, an active member of the Apollo Spring Church Sportsman's Club and very active with the Pennsylvania Game Commission. He enjoyed spending his time at his family camp along the Allegheny River, driving his boat to take his family fishing, skiing and tubing. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Carolyn D. Hartman Richards, of Spring Church; two daughters, Angela (Addie) Birch, of Apollo, and Lauren (Stewart) Waugh, of South Point, Ohio; a brother, Harry Lawrence (Alfretta) Richards, of Hermitage; three grandchildren, Addison Wayne Birch, Jeremy Alexander Birch and Lucas Samuel Waugh; two step-grandchildren, Cody Birch and Kaylee Birch; along with numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a half-brother, Earl Lauren Richards.

Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the DUNMIRE-KERR & ROWE FUNERAL HOME INC., 244 Franklin Ave., Vandergrift. Additional viewing will be held from 9:30 until time of services at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the Boiling Springs Presbyterian Church, Spring Church. Interment will follow in the Fairview Cemetery, Spring Church.
