Almira Rose Summers Maynes, 83, passed away peacefully of lymphoma, February 29, 1996.

She was born January 29, 1913, to Rev. George Clark Summers and Bessie Ann Massie in Waucoma, Iowa. She graduated from the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks, North Dakota. She was a member of Phi Beta Phi Sorority. She married Charles Wm. Maynes, December 26, 1935. He preceded her in death on March 15, 1985.

She was co-owner of Rusco Window Co., past president of Newcomers Club, member of Chapter V.P.E.O. Former member of Willow Creek Country Club. She taught English in North Dakota and Salt Lake City. Lifelong member of First Congregational Church. She married George A. Allen, December 28, 1991, in Edina, Minn. He preceded her in death September 23, 1993, in Edina, Minn.

Preceded in death by parents; brothers, George C. Summers, Sun City West, Ariz.; John R. Summers, Medford, Ore.; sister, Bessie Sanderson, Bismarck, North Dakota; a nephew, James C. Summers, Scottsdale, Arizona.

She is survived by her children, Charles Wm. (Bill) Maynes (Gretchen) of Chevy Chase, Maryland; Julie M. Kilgrow (Alan Gardner), and Mary Benowitz, both of Salt Lake City; seven grandchildren, Charles and Stacy Maynes, J. Katharine, Jennifer and John Charles (Jake) Kilgrow, Tyler Benowitz and Joseph Benowitz, Myra Lee Larsen, niece, Bismarck, North Dakota; stepchildren, Robert G. Allen (Audrey) of Chicago, Ill.; Judy and Gary Smedley of Bakersfield, Calif.; six step-grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; many loving nieces, nephews, family and long time friends.

The family expresses gratitude to all family members and Hospice caregivers who gave kind and loving care.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to United Way of the Great Salt Lake Area for Children.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 6, 1996, 12 noon at the First Congregational Church, 2150 Foothill Drive, where friends may call one hour prior to services. Burial, Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Funeral directors, Evans & Early Mortuary.
