Prussian Royalty. She was the Last Crown Princess of the German Empire. The daughter of Grand Duke Friedrich Franz III of Mecklenburg-Schwerin and his consort Grand Duchess Anastasia Mikhailovna of Russia, her father-in-law was Kaiser Wilhelm II, who abdicated as German Emperor on November 9, 1918. Crown Princess Cecilie married Crown Prince Friedrich Wilhelm of Prussia in a glittering ceremony on June 6, 1905. In 1945 she fled from her home in Potsdam's Castle Cecilienhof to the south of Germany to escape advancing Soviet troops. She died in Bad Kissingen and was buried next to her husband.
