Mrs. Anna Vander Werff, 85, of Pella, died Saturday, Dec. 3 at the Pella Community Nursing Home in Pella.

Annie, daughter of John and Bertha Blom Brummel, was born on Nov. 8, 1898 at Peoria, Iowa. Her parents later moved to Otley, Iowa where she attended the country grade school.

Anna graduated from Pella Public High School in Pella, Iowa in 1916. Following graduation she taught in rural schools near Otley for nine years.

On Oct. 20, 1926 she married Bert Vander Werff at Otley and they had four children. Following their marriage, they farmed near Otley until moving near Pella in 1940 where they continued to live the remainder of their married lifetime.

Mr. Vander Werff died July 12, 1971 and Anna continued to live in rural home until November of 1983.

Preceding her in death besides her husband, Bert, were her parents; one brother, Walter Brummel; and six sisters: Bertha Brummel; Dora, Mrs. Jens Jensen; Maggie Brummel; Dena Brummel; Marie, Mrs. Richard J. Rozenboom and Jeanette Brummel.

Mrs. Vander Werff was a member of the First Reformed Church in Pella wherefor many years she had been a member of the Sunshine Circle.

Services were held Tuesday, Dec. 6, 1983 at the First Reformed Church in Pella. The Rev. Jack O. Boerigter officiated. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery, Pella.

Memorials may be given to the Pella Community Nursing Home in her memory.
