This is Clyde E(dwin) Law. Clyde was killed in the explosion of Winter Quarters #4 at Scofield, Utah, May 1st, 1900. He is one of 69 persons buried away from Scofield yet within Utah. His death was miserable and in terrible circumstance. In the littlw town of Winter Quarters over 100 widows and over 250 fatherless orphans resulted from this disaster. The coal mine explosion was the first in the century (1900) and many more would follow esp. in the decade 1900 - 1910. Coal was a cruel taskmaster indeed. There were over 200 victims of the Scofield disaster. Clyde is buried here in Fairview, the only person so interred. At Scofield cemetery there rest 114 and out of Utah state there are 12. It was a black day on the frontier.
