During high school and during the war, Kay worked for the Bell Telephone Company in Fairplay, then a title company and had a long career at the Fairplay Post Office where she was a friendly face to the many residents until her retirement in 1990. Kay was active in her church and the 4-H program in Fairplay during her daughter’s teenage years.
In 2002 she moved to Colorado Springs and lived at the Skyline Retirement Village and then the Broadmoor Court Assisted Living.
